More than four hundred years after his birth, William Shakespeare is regarded as the world's greatestpoet and playwright. Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare achieved fame, wealth and statuswriting tragedies, comedies, histories and romances which are performed throughout the world.This fascinating short break will give you the opportunity to see a performance and walk in thefootsteps of this great man to gain a remarkable insight into his life and times.

Day One
After arriving at your hotel, you will receive a warm welcome from your host and enjoy dinner followed by an after dinner talk on the Bard by a specialist guest speaker.


Day Two
Your break starts with a visit to Shakespeare's Birthplace known as the most famous and most visited literary landmark in Britain and where he spent his early years. The house offers you a fascinating insight into life as it was when Shakespeare was a child. Then onto Holy Trinity Church, to see the graves of William Shakespeare, his wife Anne Hathaway and some members of his family. You will also visit Shakesperience, the new, groundbreaking, multisensory attraction that presents the life and legacy of Shakespeare in a new and dramatic way. In the afternoon, visit the National Trust property at Charlecote Park where Shakespeare was allegedly caught poaching the park deer. In the evening, enjoy a predinner talk before watching a Royal Shakespeare Theatre performance, the world’s leading classical theatre company. Special behind the scenes theatre tours can be organised giving you a truly memorable insight into Shakespeare on stage. 


Day Three
Travel to Kenilworth Castle, scene of a pageant for Queen Elizabeth I, said to have been witnessed by William Shakespeare as a boy. Next stop is Hall’s Croft, named after Dr John Hall, who married Shakespeare's daughter Susanna. Pass by Nash’s House, owned by Thomas Nash, first husband of Shakespeare's grand-daughter, Elizabeth. In the village of Shottery we visit Anne Hathaway's Cottage, the childhood home of Shakespeare’s wife. It still contains the Hathaway bed and many other items of furniture owned by the family. Finally enjoy a visit to Mary Arden’s House, home of Shakespeare's mother before she married John Shakespeare and moved to Stratford-upon-Avon.
